HOME IMPROVEMENT TRENDS 2024

By Nigel Fairweather, Sales Consultant, The Window Centre

When looking at home improvement trends for 2024, we discussed the outlook with our team and saw that there is an increase in demand from customers for extensions to their current homes. In 2023, the UK housing market faced several challenges with property prices plummeting, mortgage rates rising and an ongoing cost of living crisis.

Moving into 2024, we are seeing that homeowners are choosing to extend their existing homes instead of moving house. This increase in demand for extensions and unique living spaces, allows for people to create a more versatile home extension that is tailored to them. We are seeing more and more customers have extended family living with them or they are now spending more time working from home, meaning they are keen to create extended living spaces that work for them and their family.

To add to this, customers now have an understanding of u-values and energy efficiency and have realised it is not just about creating extra space. With new windows, doors and conservatory roofs becoming more thermally efficient, all of this can also be easily achieved creating added benefits for the customer.

Here at The Window Centre, we are proud to offer a range of solutions tailored to the needs of our customers. The days of the old fashioned conservatory that is either too hot or too cold are long gone. We are already seeing an increased appetite for unique tailored living spaces in 2024 with everything from orangeries, warm roof extensions and modern conservatories to elevate the homes of our customers.
